This is me-Dominic Salt. I have had, and been around dogs for as long as I can remember. I was added to the Levelmoor affix in the 1990's, and had my first Gordon Setter in this decade.
I have loved mainly Gundog breeds, but Flatcoated Retrievers became a love of mine in the mid 1990's. In 1998 I felt that it was time for me to acquire my first one as a pet, with a possibility that I may show it, if it became good enough to do so. After spending many hours at Crufts of that year and talking to many knowledgeable people within the breed. I jotted a note by the types of dogs which I favoured, in the Crufts catalogue.
On noticing that majority of them were from similar lines, probably only really 2 different lines, I was lucky enough to spot a litter of Puppies for sale, with both these lines in them. I rang up to enquire on the availabilty of a bitch puppy to be a pet but to possibly show. I was given pick of litter, as the lovely breeder Mrs Gill Stiles was keeping a dog. And that was the start of my love of the wonderful breed of Flatcoated Retrievers.
The first Flatcoated Retriever Which I owned was the wonderfully lovely Carnegga Ebony of Levelmoor, whom introduced me to showing. She can be seen on a later page. She was the sweetest little thing, and I was very lucky to have owned her. I had done a tiny bit of Junior handling when very young, but really did not recall these days. Ebony helped me to make some wonderful friends and acquaintances, whom have helped me along the way with support and advice, of which I am very thankful.
So due to her being such a wonderful lady, I was hooked on this collectable breed. She produced my first Levelmoor Litter of Puppies, and made me very proud throughout her life.
